Our bodies often work harder than we realize — at least until we wake up with an aching back and stiff joints. When sore muscles fail to relax or tissue wounds are slow to heal, many massage therapists turn to Plai. A close relative to Ginger, Plai’s aroma is strikingly similar to Eucalyptus with spicy notes.
The Plai plant grows about 8 inches in height and produces narrow pseudostems that look a lot like pine cones. The root of the plant is put through a steam distillation process to extract the essential oil. Try mixing Plai with your favorite carrier oil to craft your own custom massage blend.
In a 1 ounce squeeze bottle add: 5 drops of Plai, 2 drops of Helichrysum, 3 drops of Lavender and 1 ounce of aloe vera gel. Apply 2-3 times a day or as needed to assist the body’s natural process of relieving insect bites.
In a 2 ounce spray bottle add: 5 drops of Plai, 5 drops of Cedarwood, 4 drops of Lemon Eucalyptus and 6 drops of Rosemary, then fill with Lemongrass hydrosol or another hydrosol. Shake well before each use.
Dilute 3 drops of Plai essential oil with any carrier oil of yoru choice and apply to the area of concern.
Great to add a few drops to a diffuser
Dilute 1-2 drops in a carrier oil and apply to abdomen.
