Mary Kay Clear Proof® Deep-Cleansing Charcoal Mask – Review

I pretty much  only use Micellar waters to remove makeup and charcoal masks to cleanse my skin. I usually make my own charcoal mask with Charcoal and Bentonite Clay. When I found out that Mary Kay created their own Charcoal Mask I was very excited to test this baby out. I have one can say skin so dry the desert would be jealous. My skin is dry all year long, itchy and flaky.

This triple-action mask deeply cleanses skin, immediately reduces shine and features an effective complex of botanical extracts like peppermint and rosemary to help clear the way to beautiful skin. The mask is formulated with activated charcoal, an ingredient so powerful, it can bind up to double its weight in pore-clogging impurities. Think of it like a powerful magnet withdrawing dirt and debris from deep within pores. Plus, mineral clay ingredients, kaolin and bentonite, boost the mask’s absorbency. You’ll love how the mask soaks up excess oil to deliver a smooth, matte appearance. If you suffer from problem skin, you may have experienced dark spots and lingering discoloration. This multitasking mask was formulated to help with that too! Clear Proof® Deep-Cleansing Charcoal Mask contains honeysuckle and navy bean extracts shown to target the appearance of skin discoloration.

How It Works
Skin has a natural exfoliating process. Sometimes this process doesn’t work as effectively as it should, so oil, bacteria and impurities get trapped inside pores. The Clear Proof® Deep-Cleansing Charcoal Mask helps remove the dirt and impurities that can contribute to problem skin and offers a gentle solution for supporting a clearer-looking complexion.

The mask contains activated charcoal and mineral clays to absorb pore-clogging impurities and excess oil, taking skin beyond everyday clean. As a result, your complexion looks clearer and healthier, and pores appear minimized.

If you have oily skin you can apply this mask all over your face or if you have sensitive dry skin like I do then you can apply it on targeted areas. Depending on how much you put on it can take 15 minutes to dry. The main issue I have with clay masks is it can be a hassle to wash off since it the clay can become too dry, that’s not the case with this mask. I just use some warm water and a wash cloth and it easily washes off. The end results have been fabulous in my experience. My skin feels so much softer, smoother and less flaky.

  • Interesting mask. Sounds really functional. I must try it.

  • It sounds very effective! Charcoal masks are great, no matter the trends and all the current hypes 😉 I’ve been using for some time now an Avon Clearskin Pore Penetrating black mask 😉

  • I have combination/oily, leaning more towards oily skin, so this mask sounds quite amazing and promising for me! I’ve tried a product similar to this one, I think from Biore, and it didn’t work at all, so I’d be willing to give this one a try. Thanks for sharing, beauty, and I hope you’re having a great week so far!

  • I yet haven’t given charcoal masks a try, I know they are trending but still. I have very sensitive skin hence I refrain from using new products launching now & then. But your review is tempting me now, I might give it a try starting with the T-zone area maybe, thanks you for sharing this review 🙂

    • I too have sensitive skin and this mask did not bother my skin at all. Although you can easily make a clay ask yourself very easily.

  • Simera, I missed you a great deal… it’s so good to be back… I have been dealing with some health issues, I am finally starting to feel more myself… now I am trying to catch up xox

I love Mary Kay… and like you I have very dry skin so I would used this just for problem spots, I like how it rinses off easily enough, I don’t like the ones that leave a residue… xox

    • Hi Launna. I am sorry to hear that. I am glad to hear you are starting to feel a bit better. I have actually been away from blogging too. I have been posting once a week due to health issues. I have missed you and I will be visiting your blog tomorrow. I appreciate all the RT’s from you.

  • I actually didn’t consider charcoal masks because I thought they would dry out my skin further, so it’s really good to hear that they actually work well 🙂

    • I was pretty skeptical before I tried charcoal masks since my skin is so dry, and while some have made my skin dry this one and my home made one hasn’t.

  • Charcoal masks are everywhere! I love that this MK formula washes off easily!

    • It’s definitely a nice change from most charcoal masks.

  • I love a good charcoal mask because they really do a fantastic job although I have to be careful with them since I’m on the drier side. x

I just had a question! I have extremely sensitive skin – like any new makeup or anything I use usually breaks me out. Is this good with sensitive skin or should I stay away?
