I have always favored liquid eyeliners over gel and kohl liners. Although liquid eyeliners require more practice and are not mistake proof they do give the sharpest and cleanest cat eye in my opinion. I have been trying a few eyeliners from Rimmel and I have really enjoyed using their Exaggerate Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in the past few weeks. A lot and I mean a lot of companies claim their eyeliners are waterproof but most of the time are anything but. This eyeliner from Rimmel is heavy duty and when they say it’s waterproof they mean it.
I have used some pretty disappointing liquid eyeliners and guess what they were all high end. I love drugstore liquid eyeliners and I find they work much better then most higher end ones. In the world of liquid eyeliners there are a few things I look for, How good is the brush applicator? How fast does it dry?, Does it last all day or will I be looking like a racoon in one hour?
I have hooded eyes, so most eyeliners in general transfer. This eyeliner lasts a very long time. It doesn’t transfer on me and most importantly it doesn’t smudge. I had a really hard time removing the swatch from my hand, I had to use an oil based makeup remover. It’s legit waterproof. The pigmentation is on par with most liquid eyeliners. I had great color pay off with just one swipe. I used two swipes in the eye swatch below. It applies very smoothly. It’s not too wet and I love that it’s non streaky. Once it’s applied it dries down quickly which is a bonus, I simply don’t have 5 minutes to wait for an eyeliner to dry down. The applicator is really easy to control too. It’s stiff but not too stiff where it’s streaky. I can create thin and thick lines which is great because I don’t always want to have a thin or thick eyeliner.
So is this a great eyeliner for beginners? Not necessarily. At the end of the day it’s still a liquid eyeliner so it does take some practice to master a clean cat eye but it’s easier to use compared to other liquid eyeliners because of the easy to use applicator. I highly recommend this eyeliner especially because of the pigmentation and of course the impressive staying power.
