elf St. Lucia Contouring Blush & Bronzing Cream Review, Swatches & Photos

I’ve always loved the idea of a blush and bronzer duo. elf’s St. Lucia contouring blush and bronzing cream is supposed to create a healthy and natural glow all year long. The blush highlights the cheeks to add a flush of color, while the bronzer accents and contours cheekbones for beautiful definition. This convenient compact has just what you need to achieve a gorgeous glow anytime, anywhere.

Packaging
This palette comes in a matte black plastic compact much like their studio blushes.  Inside you will find a decent sized mirror. The compact has two pans that hold the cream blush and bronzer.  The palette feels nice and sturdy and doesn’t feel cheap at all.

Pigmentation
Both the blush and the bronzer are nicely pigmented. I personally don’t like blushes and bronzers that are too pigmented, I much prefer a lighter application at least to start off with. The blush is very neutral and I would imagine it complimenting a wide range of skin tones. The blush is a light pink with peachy brown undertones.  The bronzer is a light brown once it’s blended. It does run a tad bit orange so that’s a bit disappointing.  Neither the blush or the bronzer contain any shimmer because of that you could use the bronzer as a contour shade. I personally like to mix both the bronzer and the blush together and apply it to the apples of my cheeks.

Formula
The cream formula makes this an ideal product for dry skin beauties. It feels silky on the skin and non drying.  It dries to a smooth finish and doesn’t feel oily or tacky on the skin. Both shades blend out pretty easily, I like to use an angled brush to apply it and I usually blend it out with a beauty blender. Setting this product is not needed since they set pretty nicely on their own.

Although this is an affordable product I personally don't use it often because the bronzer does run a bit orange on me and both the blush and bronzer seem to get blotchy throughout the day. I think there are far better products out there that although costs more is worth the investment.

  • Since I’m tan I usually don’t wear bronzer, but I can see how this can get runny because it looks so creamy. Your honest review is great!

Great review! Thanks for telling us that this bronzer can give off an orange look. I try to look for bronzers that give me a natural look, so that was good to know!

    • Their products are usually a hit or miss for me.

  • I think we can’t really go wrong for that price, it sounds pretty decent. I have never tried cream bronzer, how hard is it to blend, do you use finger or brush for best result?

    Shireen | Reflection of Sanity

    • I use a beauty blender it blends easily. For me the bronzer isn’t worth it since it makes me look orange.

Sounds like something I would really love to try!

I agree with you the bronzer look way too orange.

    • Yes it does no matter how little you apply.

  • Libby

I have heard many people say does look orange I think I might skip out on this.

    • I personally would not purchase this again. The orange look isn’t very natural.

  • I didn’t realize these products were cream at first! I like the shades a lot but I don’t use cream based blushes and bronzers often. It makes me nervous.

  • I like the idea of it but it does look quite orangy like you say. I would try if they had a paler version. Gemma x

    • I agree this palette could have been awesome but I look like a nacho when using it.

    • Glad you like it too bad it didn’t work out for me.

  • Super! I would like to learn contouring.
