Don’t you just love affordable mascara’s? Every time I go to a department store and see mascaras for $40 I cringe inside. I mean why spend $40 on a product that you have to throw out in a few months.. no thank you. The Essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara was recently launched with the Essence Spring/Summer 2015 Makeup Collection.
The wand for this mascara does look different than what I’m used to seeing. It has a cobra shape and curves in the center which looks super cool but does take some getting used to. This mascara is suppose to add volume while separating and lifting the lashes. I personally don’t think it adds a ton of volume but it does excel in lengthening the lashes for sure. The formula doesn’t make my lashes feel dry or crunchy which is a bonus because some drugstore mascaras are known to do that. While wearing this mascara throughout the day it didn’t flake and held a curl nicely. My biggest issue with this mascara is I feel like it does easily make my lashes look clumpy no matter how I applied it. Essence doesn’t mention if this mascara is waterproof but I had no trouble removing it with a makeup wipe. I personally don’t like waterproof mascaras because they are a huge pain in the neck to remove.
All in all this mascara does a great job with adding length so you can’t beat the $4.99 price tag. It’s a great buy once you get used to the cobra shaped wand. If you are looking for a mascara that adds volume I would skip out on this one.
