Which Brand Of Coconut Oil I Only Use And Why!

Recently I have had a lot of emails asking me which brand of  coconut oil I use so I decided to make a semi quick post going over some of the questions I have been asked. Firstly if you don’t know I have been using coconut oil topically and internally as part of my diet and through oil pulling for many years for it’s countless  health properties.  Coconut oil has plenty of health benefits, below I have listed only some of them;

  • Maintaining cholesterol levels
  • Help the body mount a resistance to viruses and bacteria
  • Anti-bacterial
  • Mouth health
  • Increased immunity
  • Proper digestion and metabolism
  • Heals wounds
  • Brain booster
  • Relief from or support in various health issues, such as kidney and liver problems, heart disease, high blood

  • Reduces hair loss and helps with dandruff
  • Helps treat fatigue
  • Effective remedy against Candida
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Burns fat and improves metabolism
  • Lowers bad cholesterol levels
  • Can help in keeping weight balanced
  • Has NO harmful side effects

Over the years I have tried many different coconut oils from different brands at different price ranges. I am very picky in the type of oil I purchase because I generally don’t just use coconut oil for beauty related reasons. I use Nutiva Organic Virgin Coconut oil because in my opinion they have superior  oil that I feel comfortable taking internally and letting my 7 year old  ingest as well. That’s not to say other brands don’t offer excellent oils I just prefer this one and trust them a lot. Not to mention I am crazy about he scent and authentic crisp clean taste.

Nutiva’s coconut oil is cold-pressed and never refined, deodorized or bleached! It’s rich aroma and sweet flavor is simply divine. It’s ideal as a medium-heat cooking oil, a nutritious substitute in baking and even “better than butter” on bread, vegetables or popcorn. A pinch of salt will reduce the coconut flavor in savory recipes. Nutiva waits no less than 10 hours between chopping the coconut and pressing the oil. They believe this gives you the freshest healthiest tropical oil. Some other brands produce their coconut oil from copra  which are basically pieces of coconut that have been left to dry out in the sun for days. Nutiva coconut oil contains 50% lauric acid which is a medium-chain fatty acid found in human breast milk that is being studied for it’s anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. The taste of Nutiva coconut oil really stands out to me. It’s extremely creamy, smooth and has a truly authentic crisp clean flavor.

Nutiva returns 1% of their sales to sustainable agriculture and believes in operating an earth-friendly business.

Why I Love Nutiva’s Coconut Oil

  • Certified organic
  • Provides 50% lauric acid
  • Made from fresh coconuts.. not dried copra
  • Non-hydrogenated
  • Vegan
  • Unrefined
  • Chemical-free
  • Fair Trade (big bonus for me)
  • Cold processed. No heat has been used that can damage the fatty acids
  • Unbleached
  • Tastes exactly like real coconuts
  • Smells amazing. Once you smell it you now it’s the real deal
  • Available in different sizes
  • Available online, and in stores
