Instantly beautiful, healthy-looking lips designed, formulated and tested by our professional team of makeup artists.
Over the years I have tried a lot of elf products and although some of their products have been misses they still have some products that work beautifully. I decided to purchase the new Lip Balm Tint in Berry from elf and at only $2 I knew it could have either been a huge hit or a huge miss.
It’s obvious that a lot of thought didn’t really go into the packaging and I can’t really fault elf for that considering the price for this product. The lip balm comes in a small plastic jar that depending on the day the lid screws on right. Besides that there’s not much to the packaging. The shade name is located on a tiny sticker that place on the side of the jar. The packaging doesn’t wow me and to be honest it’s not all that impressive.
Your either going to really love the gooey formula or your just going to hate it, it’s all about preference. It has a jelly consistency which I found odd at first because I haven’t used this type of formula since I was 12 years old. I’m personally not a fan of the jelly texture but on the positive side the formula is very thick and moisturizing and applies like a dream. It’s very creamy so if you have dry lips your going to love the formula. This lip balm has coconut, grape, shea butter and rice wax infused into the formula which all aid in moisturizing the lips. It has a slight vanilla taste but it’s not overpowering.
When swatched it’s more pigmented then I thought it would be, but when applied it looks very sheer on my naturally pigmented lips. It’s not a big deal to me because if I wanted intense color pay off I would just apply a lipstick, but since it’s a lip balm tint I’m okay with the pigmentation.
The staying power is pretty average. It lasts about 2 hours which doesn’t leave me impressed but since it’s a lip balm I’m not overly disappointed. This lip balm is best suited for someone who doesn’t mind reapplying lip balms throughout the day.
