MAC Constructivist Paint Pot – Review, Pictures & Swatches

Product Claims
“Highly pigmented eye colour that goes on creamy but dries to an intense, vibrant finish. Long-wearing, colourfast. Creates seamless coverage without weight or caking. Blends smoothly over the lids. Cream-based, can be mixed with M·A·C shadows and liners.”

If you read my blog then you know I love MAC Paint Pots. If I am wearing eyeshadow then you can bet I am using a paint pot. For the past four months I have been using paint pots as my main eyeshadow primer even though I know it’s not a primer it’s a base, but since I have dry eye lids I don’t need to worry about it creasing on me. If you have oily lids then you should definitely use a primer under the paint pot. I have been loving brown smokey eyes lately so I figured I would buy Constructivist Paint Pot and I am obsessed now.

Packaging

The paint pot comes in a glass jar like the MAC Fluidlines. I like how sleek it looks but since it is in a glass jar it can dry out faster. The name of the shade is at the bottom of the jar.

Color

Constructivist Paint Pot is a beautiful chocolate brown with a red pearl. Sadly the swatches don’t do this color any justice you really need to see it in person. Since I have dry lids I usually wear this shade alone on my eyes with mascara or lashes and I’m good to go. I also use it as a base for a brown smokey eye. It’s gorgeous either way.

Like with most paint pots they do have a drier texture so you do need to work with them fast or they will dry to a powder finish making blending more challenging. I usually use my ring finger to apply it to my eyes since it warms up the product better. If I want more of a precise application I use the MAC 252 brush. If your going to use a brush to apply this product then it’s best to use a synthetic brush to apply paint pots.

Staying Power

The staying power is excellent in my opinion. Obviously the staying power depends on how oily your lids are but for me this product lasts all day until I wash off my makeup.

    • Let me know how you like it if you end up trying it out.

  • Beautiful product! I have dry lids too, so I bet I could use it without primer. If a product doesn’t have staying power it is a deal breaker for me, but this sounds like it is high quality and it looks pretty! Thanks for sharing!
